Authorities are investigating a domestic-related incident in Wheeling, West Virginia, that left two people injured in a stabbing and a police officer struck by a vehicle during the emergency response.
According to Wheeling Police Department Chief Shawn Schwertfeger, officers were called around 5 p.m. to the 2100 block of National Road near Lumber Avenue following reports of a domestic situation.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals suffering from stab wounds. Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital, where authorities said their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Police also confirmed that the suspected attacker was taken to the hospital for reasons unrelated to the stabbing. No arrests had been announced as of the latest update.
During the response, an officer riding a motorcycle was struck by a vehicle while transporting one of the victims to the hospital. The officer was also taken for medical treatment, though officials have not released details regarding their condition.
Authorities have confirmed that no fatalities occurred in the incident. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding both the stabbing and the vehicle collision.
