With profound sorrow, the Gettysburg community mourns the loss of Taylor (Rudisill) Balderas, who passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, following a courageous and determined battle with cancer. She was 33.
Born on August 1, 1992, in Gettysburg, Taylor was the cherished daughter of Randy and Kim Rudisill of Orrtanna and the beloved wife of Chase D. Balderas of Arendtsville. Together, they built a life centered on love and family, raising their two daughters, Parker and Hadlee, who were the heart of her world.
A graduate of Gettysburg High School, Taylor continued her education at Shippensburg University, where she earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees. She went on to become a dedicated educator within the Conewago Valley School District, where she was widely admired for her compassion, patience, and unwavering commitment to her students. She created a classroom environment where every child felt seen, supported, and encouraged to succeed.
Colleagues, parents, and students remember Taylor not only for her professionalism but for the genuine care she extended to everyone around her. She had a gift for inspiring confidence and curiosity, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives.
Beyond her career, Taylor found her greatest joy in her family. She cherished time spent with her loved ones and her beloved dog, Moose, creating memories filled with laughter and love. Known for her vibrant personality, she had a natural talent for storytelling and a sense of humor that could brighten even the most difficult days.
During her illness, Taylor demonstrated extraordinary strength and resilience. She turned to art as a source of comfort and expression, using her creativity as both a form of healing and a way to inspire others. Her courage throughout her journey left a profound impression on all who witnessed it.
In addition to her husband, daughters, and parents, Taylor is survived by her sister, Rachel Hertzog, and her family of Bendersville, along with many extended family members, friends, coworkers, and students whose lives were deeply touched by her presence.
A memorial service celebrating Taylor’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, at First Baptist Church in Gettysburg, followed by a celebration of life with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Keystone Pet Enhanced Therapy Services (KPETS), honoring the comfort and support Taylor received from therapy animals during her treatment.
Taylor Balderas will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, inspiring teacher, and a woman of remarkable courage. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
May she rest in eternal peace.
